Simply the Safest: Our New Safety Reward Program

Our commitment to safety: ringing in our new Safety Reward Program and applauding those who go above and beyond!

At SME, safety is more than a policy—it’s a core value that drives everything we do. Read on to see how we are fostering a culture where our members look out for one another, ensuring that safety always comes first.

At SME, safety isn’t just a priority—it’s a core value that underpins all operations. Being we’re ‘Simply the Best’ contractor in the region, our members’ unwavering commitment to 100% safety engagement and best practices is the sole reason for our continued success in delivering exceptional results while ensuring every employee returns home the way they came into work. Member’s dedication to identifying safety hazards and their continuous drive to improve safety protocols plays a key role in helping SME strive toward zero accidents, incidents, and injuries. To honor those who go above and beyond in keeping their ‘brothers and sisters on the job site’ safe, we’ve presented the Safety Employee of the year award and three Safety Employee of the Month awards to honorees who’ve closed out 2024 on a high note.

Andrew Beethe, 2024 Safety Employee of the Year, Butch Masek, Tyler Schmidt, and Mike Spiker, have all demonstrated an exceptional commitment to safety by proactively utilizing Stop Work Authority. Because of their safety-first mindset, attention to detail, and willingness to promptly address safety concerns, they’ve played a crucial role in preventing potential onsite risks from escalating into serious accidents. “Here at Shanahan Mechanical & Electrical we implemented the ‘Stop Work’ Safety Reward Program in the last three months of 2024. Our employees have an outstanding safety culture and are engaged in safe work practices on a daily basis. I believe using the ‘Stop Work’ Reward Program serves as a tool for recognizing their efforts and keeping everyone on the job site safe,” says Tom Hampton, SME Division Safety Manager.

As we look ahead, we remain steadfast in our commitment to safety, knowing that the success of our projects and the well-being of our team members are directly tied to our safety culture. Recognizing the efforts of those who go above and beyond serves as a reminder that safety is not just a practice—it’s a shared responsibility.
